On April 6th, 2018, my entire life changed forever . While heading home, I lost control of my vehicle and struck a tree head on. The impact was so severe that the paramedics had to resuscitate me three times before I became stable. I spent two weeks in a coma and required a ventilator just to stay alive. After the initial trauma, I spent three months at the Shepherd Center in Atlanta Georgia receiving physical and occupational therapy. I was left paralyzed as a result of the accident. Over the past five years I have also had to contend with pressure wounds from my injuries. One of the wounds is so severe that it will require flap surgery to close it.
I was 21 at the time of the accident and had big dreams of a baseball career. My free time was dedicated to being an athlete and I even had athletic scholarships. Even though it’s been roughly six years since I’ve picked up a baseball, my desire to succeed in life hasn’t changed.
My new lifestyle has been one of many physical and emotional challenges. Without my parents being my timeless caregivers, I wouldn’t be where I am today. They have dedicated so much time and effort to ensure that I have the best quality of life.
After countless prayers, my desire to live independently has finally been answered. A local General Contractor is graciously donating his time and materials along with many other local contractors, vendors and volunteers to build an 800 square-foot home for myself. This amazing opportunity will not only allow me to live completely on my own, but will also take the majority of the caregiving burden off of my parents.
How to help:
Your generous donations will help build Jesse’s ADA compliant home. Donations will also be used to purchase appliances, furniture, and fencing for his service dog. With these resources, Jesse would also like to purchase a ceiling mounted hoyer system to allow a safer transfer from bed to wheelchair. Before this I really didn’t have direction in life, I suffered from depression and anxiety.. but since this blessing of an opportunity started I have been renewed mentally and I found my purpose.. it’s helping others. I want to give back. And through Jesse’s Journey I will be able to. I want to help those who cannot for themselves, just like I was given this opportunity I would like to share it with others. Without you all this wouldn’t be possible. Thank you for your continued prayers and support!
See the change in someone’s life.
